Representing Decimals
- Remember that there are 3 forms of numbers: standard form, expanded form, and word form.
- In 6th Grade, we focus on converting between standard form and word form.
- Things to remember:
- *You use "and" to represent the decimal point
- *You can only use "and" once. For example, 2.301 is read as "two and three hundred one thousandths" NOT "two and three hundred and one thousandths"
- *You read a decimal like a regular number and then name the place value of only the last digit.
