A little bit about me...
My name is Jessica Findlay and I have been teaching in Douglas since 2006. I live in Northbridge with my husband, our two children, Madeline (7 years old) and Jacob (5 years old), and our dog, Charlie. Outside of school, I enjoy traveling, the beach, reading, and live music.
During the 2022-2023 school year, I will be teaching 4 Math classes and 1 Reading class. I pride myself on my ability to differentiate my instruction to meet the needs of my learners. I guide my students in the creation and maintenance of a Math Interactive Notebook Tool (MINT), which we use as a learning and study resource. I strive to create an environment where students feel comfortable enough to participate and take risks. We do a lot of cooperative learning and learning through gaming, in partners and in groups. I have adopted a hands-on, minds-on approach to teaching in an effort to keep my students actively engaged. In addition to my classroom teaching, I serve as a FIRST Lego League Robotics coach for students in grades 6-8, the STEM Club Advisor, and as the preK-12 Math Vertical Team Chair. I also teach The Art of Engineering Design as part of Framingham State University's Master's in STEM Education program. |
